Az Élő gyűjtemény projekt utolsó állomása, Szabó Ádám (1972) Standby című installációja (fapolc, múzeumi szobrok, saját művek, 220×135×62 cm), amely az egész projekt esszenciális összefoglalását adja.
A raktárban levő polcrendszer egy darabjának felépítésével megidézi a raktári közeget, és játékosan reflektál a múzeumi raktározás kérdésére. A múzeumi raktár különös hely, ahol a szobrok a nézők elől elzárva nem kiállítási tárgyak, hanem alkotók szerinti rendszerben tárolt műtárgyak.

Különböző korok mestereinek alkotásai kerülnek egymás mellé a névsor diktálta rendben, meglepő együttállásokat, találkozásokat eredményezve. Sokféle alkotói attitűd sorakozik így, más-más korok, eszmék, ideológiák, eltérő gyűjtési stratégiák lenyomatát őrizve.

Az állandó kiállításban most megjelenített raktári polcon a szoborgyűjtemény darabjai keverednek a művész saját szobraival. Az egymás mellé került művek tartalmi, illetve formai kapcsolatot mutatnak, de szándékosan érzékeltetik a véletlenszerű találkozásokat is.

Az installáció megidézi a helyet, ahol a műtárgyak múzeumi védelem, szakmai felügyelet és gondoskodás alatt élik tovább alkotójuktól független életüket. A kortárs szobrász bemutat egy olyan szituációt, ami talán az ő életművére is vár majd, egy közgyűjteményi raktár polcain.

The last exhibition of Living Collection project is the installation titled Standby (wooden shelf, museum sculptures, artist’s own works, 220×135×62 cm) by Ádám Szabó, summarises the essence of the whole project.

His reconstruction of part of the gallery’s shelving system alludes to the nature of the warehouse, and muses playfully on the question of museum storage. The warehouse of the Hungarian National Gallery is a special place where, locked away from the public, the statues are not objects on display, but artworks stored in groups according to their creators.

As the system categorises works by the artist’s name, masters from different ages may end up alongside one another, resulting in some surprising pairings and constellations. Many kinds of artistic approaches are lined up in this way, preserving an impression of different ages, ideals, and ideologies, as well as the changes in collecting strategies. On the shelving unit now on show in the permanent exhibition, pieces from the collection of sculptures are intermingled with the artist’s own sculptures.
Placed side by side, the works reveal certain connections of content and form, yet they also deliberately conjure up the idea of random encounters. The installation is an evocation of the place where artworks go to live out their lives, independently from their creators, under the protection of the museum and the watchful care of experts. The contemporary sculptor presents a situation that may happen with his own life’s work one day, on the shelves of the warehouse of a public collection.
