Az Élő gyűjtemény projekt hatodik kiállításán Bakos Ildikó [1948] Szarvas (1995, viaszveszejtett bronz, 49×12×97 cm) és Vígh Tamás [1926–2010] Szarvas és farkas (1968, krómacél lemez, 69,5×136×90 cm) című plasztikái kerültek a Magyar Nemzeti Galéria Munkácsy Mihály – Paál László kiállításának terébe.

Bakos Ildikót régóta foglalkoztatja a szarvastematika, ezért lett választásának is ez a téma az alapja. S azért esett a választása éppen Vígh Tamás szobrára, mert nagyon tiszteli művészetét, különösen azt a szemléletmódot, ahogy Vígh a szobrászathoz viszonyult. Vígh Tamás plasztikája a szobrászati felfogás ellentétes pólusát képviseli, mint amit Bakos reprezentál. Amíg Vígh szobra nagy, dinamikus téri formákkal építkezik, addig Bakos Szarvasa szimbolikus, archaikus megközelítést tükröz.

Vígh Tamás a technikai megvalósítás és a plasztika újszerűségén túlmenően a téma megjelenítésében is újat hozott: ősi kultúrkörök állatszimbolikáját átértelmezve (azaz felcserélve az eredeti motívumokban szereplő támadót és áldozatot) utal egy adott történeti korszakra. A szobrász radikálisan szakított a korban uralkodó, posztamenseken ágáló figurák toposzával. A közös kiállítótérben párba kerülő két mű alkalmat ad a kétféle alkotói módszerről való párbeszédre, ugyanakkor a két kiindulási pont között elhelyezkedő egyéb alkotói attitűdökről való gondolkodásra is.

A hatodik kiállítás május 13-ig látható a Magyar Nemzeti Galéria első emeleti Munkácsy kiállításának terében. A projekt következő kiállítása május 17-én, csütörtökön este a Múzeum+ esemény keretében nyílik meg.

The 6th pair of sculptures in the project are the Stag (1995, lost-wax cast bronze, 49×12×97 cm) by Ildikó Bakos (1948) and the Stag and Wolf (1968, chromium steel sheet, 69.5×136×90 cm) by Tamás Vígh [1926–2010].

Ildikó Bakos has long been occupied with the theme of deer and stags, so this topic was an obvious choice for her. Her reason for selecting a work by Tamás Vígh as inspiration is her great admiration for his art, and especially of the attitude Vígh adopted towards sculpture. Vígh’s work represents the diametric opposite of the sculptural conception taken by Bakos. Whereas Vígh’s creatures are composed out of grand, dynamic spatial forms, Bakos’s Stag reflects a symbolic, archaic approach.

Tamás Vígh was innovative not only in style and technical implementation, but also in his handling of the theme: by reinterpreting the animal symbolism used by ancient cultures (that is, by swapping the conventional roles of predator and victim), he was alluding to the times in which he lived. The sculptor made a radical break from the then-dominant topos of figures fixed in motion on top of pedestals.
Placing these two works together in a common exhibition space prompts dialogue between the two contrasting creative methods, and also gives food for thought about other potential artistic attitudes lying somewhere along the line between these two starting points.
The 6th two sculptures are exhibited until 13 May in the Exhibition of Mihály Munkácsy. The next exhibition will open on Thursday 17 May, in the frame of the Museum+ event.
