Az Élő gyűjtemény projekt hetedik kiállításán Rabóczky Judit Rita [1979] Királynő (2017, vegyes technika, 172×80×40 cm) és Goldman György [1904–1945] Munkás (1929, gipsz, 176,5×55×41 cm) című plasztikái kerültek a Magyar Nemzeti Galéria Kondor pihenőjének kiállítóterébe.
7th pair of sculptures in the Living Collection project
Rabóczky Judit Rita gyűjteményünkből Goldman György 1929-es, munkásmozgalmi elköteleződését demonstráló Munkás című szobrát választotta frissen készült, kilenc darabból álló sorozata egyik tagja, a Királynő párdarabjának. A két szobor léptéke, az életnagysághoz közeli mérete, és szembenéző, terpeszben álló testhelyzete formailag első ránézésre is érzékelhető rokonságot mutat.

A szobrok egymás pandanjai, hiszen alapvető ellentétpárok: a férfi–nő vagy az arisztokrata–proletár megtestesítői. De ennél még fontosabb a Goldman mintázta férfialak által közvetített nyers erő, az elszántság és a feszültség, amelyet többek között az ökölbe szorított kezek jeleznek. Ezzel szemben Rabóczky nőalakja légiesebb, testtartása – mellkasán karba font karja ellenére is – nyitottabb, befogadóbb attitűdöt sugall.

A Királynő egész testét tükörcserepek borítják, amelyek önmaguk napjaként visszaverik és szétszórják a fényt. A tükör reflexió, amely visszatükrözi környezetét, így a nézők is megpillanthatják önmagukat a szobor felületén. A két szobor két felkiáltójelként feszül egymásnak a térben, és a múzeumi közegben a művészet közös platformján jelennek meg korra, nemre, osztálykülönbségre való tekintet nélkül.

A hetedik kiállítás július 1-ig látható a Magyar Nemzeti Galéria második emeleti Kondor pihenőjének kiállítóterében. A projekt következő kiállítása szeptember 13-án, csütörtökön este nyílik meg.

The 7th pair of sculptures in the project are the Queen (2017, mixed media, 172×80×40 cm) by Judit Rita Rabóczky (1979) and the Labourer (1929, plaster, 176.5×55×41 cm) by György Goldman [1904–1945].

The artwork from our collection chosen by Judit Rita Rabóczky as the partner piece to her Queen, a member of her recently completed series of nine pieces, is a sculpture titled Labourer, made by György Goldman in 1929, which clearly shows his commitment to the workers’ movement.

Indeed at first sight, the two sculptures share obvious similarities, being close to life-size in scale, with both figures standing with their legs slightly apart, looking straight ahead. The works could easily be natural pendants of each other, embodying the contrasts of man–woman and royalty–proletariat.

Even more important, though, is the raw power, determination and tension conveyed by Goldman’s male figure, indicated by, among other things, his tightly clenched fists. Rabóczky’s female figure, by contrast, is more ethereal, and despite having her arms folded across her chest, her posture suggests a more open and welcoming attitude.

The entire body of the Queen is covered in mirror tiles, which reflect and disperse light like miniature suns. The mirrors also capture their surroundings, so viewers can catch glimpses of themselves in the surface of the sculpture. The two statues counterpoise one another as mutual exclamation marks, jointly mounting the platform of art in a museum environment, and paying no attention to apparent differences in age, gender and class.

The 7th two sculptures are exhibited until 1 July in the Hungarian National Gallery. The next exhibition will open on Thursday 13 September.
